Why CO2 Extraction?
CO2-based extraction is a clean and safe process for botanical oil extraction that is considered the connoisseur’s choice. CO2 is a non-polar solvent, which can be "tuned" in the extraction process to disolve (and hence extract) specific non-polar compounds, while leaving other plant matter behind. The process can be parametrically controlled to isolate and preserve the terpenes while deriving the concentrates for exceptionally flavourful end product. Given the proper extraction method and the environment, CO2 acts as a sanitizing agent that can prolong the shelf life of derivatives and yield medical grade oils.
Other extraction solvents, such ethanol and butane, can be toxic, dangerous to use, and illegal in certain jurisdictions.
